Wooden Doll
What is the name of the wooden dolls have no face and are generally very light pastel colors?
They are not well smoothed not noticed the marks of size on them. The most I remember is a faceless woman with brown hair wearing a simple dress, someone was sitting in his mantle. There are about 8-10 inches tall. I want to sculpt a clay and the need to find pictures of them to do so. Thanks, Kati

Dolls – Toys From Antiquity
Dolls are believed to have existed since prehistoric times, and may well have been the first type of toy used by man. These dolls were certainly made of natural materials such as clay, wood and leather. Many of them may have been used as toys for children, but it is believed that were often used to represent a deity, and probably played a key role in rituals and religious ceremonies.
None of these antique dolls have survived through the ages, but dolls have often been found in Egyptian tombs dating back as far as 3000 years. Composition dolls were made from mixtures of wood pulp or paper that is die-casting, developed in the early 1800. These dolls were durable and can be mass produced. Dolls with wax heads were also popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. Porcelain dolls and soup seafood became popular in the early 19th century.
The French "bebe" dolls were popular in the 1880s. Until now, most dolls representing adult figures. Babies are different, because they represented the younger girls.
