question about wood and water and vegtable oil?
two questions
1. why do you think people use balsa wood rather than birch wood for making miniature glider airplanes?
2. if vegtable oil and water were in the same container, where would you expect to find the vegetable oil ? in the layer above the water,below or mixed in ? and why

While birch is light and strong, balsa is much lighter and is strong enough so why not use the lightest material possible. This allows one to make planes that are small and light and can fly slowly. A heavier plane would need to have larger wings and/or fly faster to get enough lift.
The oil is less dense than the water so it will always rise to the surface.
Miniature Accessories: Easing the Operation of Rotary Tool
