How do I attach wood to an outdoor metal grate?
I have a ground floor apartment, and I have a back door that leads outside. There are currently two doors that I have to open to get out–a regular door and a metal grate. I want to install a screen so that I can leave the indoor door open without being overwhelmed by insects, but it seems ridiculous to add a third door. What I was thinking about doing was to affix a thin layer of wood on the outside of the grating and staple gun some screen to it, but I’m not sure about the best way to attach wood to metal that would stand up to weather conditions. I thought about clamps, but the metal door is difficult to close as it is, so I don’t think I could wedge anything, even if it’s really thin, in between the door and the frame it closes into. Any suggestions? Or, any ideas about how else I could go about this project?
build a wooden frame for the screen out of 2×2 or similar. once the screen frame is built and screen material is attached, place it against the metal grate door. attach to metal grate door using machine bolts which fit through the grates and wooden frame. washers should be utilized on the head side as well as the wooden side to prevent the head from penetrating the door.

Galvanized steel normally possesses a zinc coating which prevents corrosive elements such as salt water and acid containing liquids from eating the carport frame. This is one of the most important considerations before deciding what material to use in building a carport. Another is the thickness of the metal. Naturally, the thicker the material the longer the carport will last.

The smaller and less elaborate ones will naturally require less people and time. Fully walled carports will be more expensive to build as compared to half-walled or open metal carports.
