now have painted gold picture frames
and then i have black and white potraits of various people on my wall
i have a green latern on the corner of my room
and yeah

[so what curtains should i choose?]

color curtains or patterns

You won’t really know what you want, until you have a look at fabric samples.

Colour varies so much, so the best thing is to take (a pillowcase) or a cushion made in your bedspread fabric or if you have to, take your whole bedspread. Also take your paint colour of the walls if you can to a curtain shop.

Take it to your local independent curtain shop, and try matching it up with fabric samples.

This way you can see first if you can find a plain colour that “blends).

You can also have a look at the wide range of “pattern” samples they have and see if you like any of them or if any of them go.

Really your not really going to know until you see the fabric “against” your bedspread to see if it will blend. Remember also that fabric looks different in different lighting. So asking if you can borrow the fabric sample, to take home and look in your room is also advisable.

My opinion based on the information you have supplied. You can do either or, as you pretty much have stripes so it’s a pattern that won’t clash.

I normally don’t like putting patterns with patterns but as it’s a stripe, then it’s okay.

If you were doing a Plain – I’d pick a colour that blends out of your bedspread.

If your doing a Pattern – It should have at least 1 -2 colours out of the bedspread. It’s hard to say what to do. There are SO MANY different patterns. You might find a nice modern floral print. Or you might find a modern geometric pattern that blends. Or you might find something completely different!! that you didn’t even think of!!

You won’t really know until you see what is “available” at your local curtain store.

I’d recommend going to a local curtain store, as most department stores don’t keep fabric samples of ALL brands. (they only have their own brand), while your local curtain independent shop is going to have a large variety of fabric samples from ALL brands.

Another idea of what you can do:

Can you still get the fabric from your bedspread. Is it a bedspread or a doona (duvet).

If you can. Maybe you can order another one, and get it cut up and made into Valances or a Pelmet.

You could then put plain colour curtains underneath and have a valance in the bedspread fabric and also get tiebacks made out of the “valance or pelmet” fabric.

Just another idea to play around with.
