How do you safely remove rust from a Vintage Tin litho toy?
I love to collect tin toys, however I find the vintage toy often contains some rust. Can someone help me clean them up safely? Is there a specialty item I need to buy?
i do toy restorations and i use CLR” Calcium Lime and Rust removal. be aware when you do remove the rust do this very very slowly and dilute the CLR – you’ll get a knack for it eventually. I also use a tin based bondo and matching paint to restore the toy to its previous pristine condition but again this process takes me at least a month per toy as i do this as a hobby.check out toy restoration sites on the web there are zillions!
