A supermarket makes $1,000 per day in profit. If half of this comes from groceries, 30% from food-related products, and 20% from cigarettes, videos, and newspapers, then how much profit do they make per day from groceries?

1000 is 100% of the the income, then it says groceries is half. half of 100% is 50%, and half of 1000, is 500. another way to do it is find just the percent, 50%, and turn it into a decimal: .5, and mulitply it by the number (1000): (.5)(1000)=500
