Quilters: How I can use a "Flip n Set" rule of the triangle?
I bought a pattern (Simplicity 3977), and looked as a fairly easy to sew (d), or the scarf from the chimney. It is asking the court, using this tool, 4 – 4-1/2 "x42" strips among others. I can read the 4-1/2 "strip of the rule, but I'm terribly confused about the 42." How I can do, please? When you buy the fabric (and have washed and dried), the width of the fabric will be approximately 42 inches from edge to edge. The instructions are telling you to cut of 4 1 / 2 "strips along the width of the fabric (42" long). I looked up this pattern so I could see what the scarf looks like the chimney. The block is doing is called Ohio Star. I've included some links below to the traditional method of making this block without a rule of luxury. The stars in this model consists of a solid core (probably 4 1 / 2 "), four solid corners (more than 4 1 / 2") and four quarter square triangles. To a first draft, these are not the easiest to do, no matter what the pattern says, so it needs to be cut some slack. Ok, the 42 "strips that are are probably asking for their solid core and solid corners. These are probably not needed for the ruler. Reread the instructions of the strips.
