How do you know a pet store cares for the animals?
I want to buy two guinea pigs. Where I live, there is so RSPCA shop of animals is the only option. Ill piggies do not want, how I know they are a reputable store? I know how to tell if the real guinea pig is healthy, but what about the store? The RSPCA is closer to 2 hours. There is honestly no other places nearby. I do not live in the United States / United Kingdom
Hello! Just wanted to say that I personally work at a pet store in Australia, and by no means neglects to care for animals. I can not speak for other workers there, but as far as I know, all the animals are properly cared for, and always make a point to let a person know what they are prepared to if they want an animal. I know a lot of pet stores do not take proper care of their animals, but pet stores arent anyway, it is the employees that determine the animal levels care. But apart from that, the best thing to do is research guinea pig healthy behavior, and study the guinea pigs for sale with care. Choose a member of staff who are respectable and intelligent, but also takes care of the animals (these people are often the smiling). Definitely avoid people seeking staff moody, tired, bored, very young, or those who appear to be better in a different field. (For example, there may be a member of the Major League staff in care no fish, pork, pig care.) Ask about guinea pigs, how long been there, how old they are, what their diet, etc.. If you notice any delay in responding, or responds poorly, can not be positive the animal is in good condition. Ask about Guinea pig care. If the staff seems certain their answers, try to get an agent more sensible. A good way to know if the answers are true or not is to ask questions I already know the answer. For example, a guinea pig is a mammal that is prone to respiratory diseases, so that a flow of air through the cage is essential. Ask a question like "I can put a guinea pig in a cage with air holes only in the top of the cage? "If they say anything apart from the correct answer, you may want to share some of their knowledge with them, and try to find an agent who knows what they are doing. As for the store, to see if you have friends or relatives who go to the store and ask on its reliability. Will there often? If the staff friendly and knowledgeable? Do animals seem well cared for? If you do not know anyone who goes to the pet store just have a look. You do not have to have a guinea pig of the first going to the store. Look for the store you can say that animals are treated well. Or, ditch of pet shops altogether, maybe there is someone in your school or in your neighborhood who has guinea pigs recently gave birth? Find information about buying a them, or look for other animal shelters around. Even amateur breeders would be a good place to look. Well, its up to how to find your perfect guinea pig.
