Kit Miniature
electronics help – wiring up miniature lighting?

UK onlu or online world:

please someone advise…ive been trying for months to obtain a custom led kit or one suitable to my needs but no one can help…

Please suggest a supplier or online forum or adviser for the following:

Dolls House (3x2ft) miniature lighting project:

Multiple LEDs, possibly in different colours or all white but with coloured sleaves.
Different size leds be great.
It be great to have light sequences (wave/fade/twinkle etc)
The cord must reach the shelf (so 1.5/2m of no leds)
UK power or adapter compat.

As the above describes most cheap chinese christmas light sets why is it so difficult to find a diy kit or supplier? (ive tried crimbo lights but cord too short)

Maplins wont advise what i need, neither will any Miniature Doll lights specialist or yahoo answers (3rd post)

Perhaps an electric model train club or store will be of help. They often work with tiny bulbs to illuminate scenes, and rolling stock.

If not, I’d just buy a handful of the smallest white LEDs you can find online through digikey.com, connect them to whatever switches you like using #22 AWG wire, and connect to a 1.5V AA battery, or similar voltage adapter. If you break out the wires to a breadboard or terminal strip, you could connect some sort of dimmer / sequencer after the fact.

As for sleeves, I’d just colour each bulb with a felt tipped marker (permanent, if you like), found in any stationary or craft department / store. Optionally, a theatrical lighting store or your local theater may have some coloured “gels” available – scraps of coloured plastic placed in front of spot lights. Cut to size with scissors.
