Dressed To Kill – Choosing a Wedding Dress To Die For!
Copyright (c) 2010 FNS Weddings
There are a number of different wedding dress styles to choose from and unless you frequently wear ball gowns etc. you may not know what will suit you best. A good idea would be to try on several different styles and when you see “the one” you will know it is the one for you!
As a brief guide to some of the more usual styles available however:
Princess or ‘A’ Line
Princess or ‘A’ Line is a versatile shape that will suit most brides, regardless of height or curves. It is generally fitted quite closely at the top and around the ribcage and flows out into a ‘A’ or triangular shape. As it isn’t totally fitted it is the ideal style to disguise any lumps or bumps you may have! Generally we see a very flattering silhouette from Princess Line dresses. Be aware however that this style of dress often needs a hoop to be worn underneath to carry the dress off – and this in itself can take some getting used to! Also watch out that the dress is fitted correctly at the top as they are frequently strapless and even on the slimmest of girls this can mean lumps over the top of the dress if they are not worn correctly. This dress will draw attention to your bust and shoulder area.
The Ball Gown Style
The Ball Gown style is very dramatic and always feminine and pretty. They are fitted tightly at the waist and top with a very full skirt which touches the floor. If you are conscious of your hips, bottom or are a classic pear shaped then this may be the ideal style for you. This style may not be ideal for very small or petite as such a “big” dress on a small stature can make the wearer feel a bit “swamped” by it.
The Column Dress
The Column Dress is a great style for slim brides with good shoulders and arms. Very closely related to the “sheath” dress this style is designed to be figure hugging and follow the curves of your body. It is a very sophisticated style which adds to the glamour of the day. To carry off this style perfectly the bride needs to be confident in herself and to have good posture and walk tall. Guaranteed to turn heads and leave you feeling like a million dollars!
The Fishtail Dress
Very similar to the Column Dress but even more figure hugging! Not for the feint of heart – wear it if you dare girls! The bodice is very closely fitted and narrow and the dress flares out from the knees. This is a great style for petite brides as it will not overwhelm their size. Simply stunning if you can carry it off – show stopping!
The Empire Line
The Empire style has a high waist – usually just below the bust line and is a very flattering style for most heights and sizes however if you are a shorter bride then this style can give an impression of height. Less figure hugging than the Princess or ‘A’ Line style, if you don’t like full skirts then this could be the ideal choice for you. It’s a good style for the bride with a smaller bust as it creates the illusion of cleavage. Generally speaking it gives a leaner silhouette than the Princess or ‘A’ Line style.
When choosing your wedding dress, consider what you think are your best and worst features and try to choose a dress which will emphasize your good points whilst disguising or drawing attention away from your least favourite. Take a trusted friend or relative along with you – someone who will give you a totally honest and unbiased opinion of what suits you best. Above all else go with your heart – if you love it and feel good in it then trust your instinct that he will love you in it just as much!

I think Muslim women make good wives?
this will drive my mother Bonkers.
Bonkers.
I know this beautiful Muslim girl, Fatima (her name)- and she is to me the ideal of how a prospective wife would be. Her friends that I have met seem to be the same, pretty much all Muslim women- they seem petite, very family oriented- they don’t have the princess syndrome (don’t get me started on that business), they seem to find more values in life than just material possessions.
My mom wants me to marry a nice Catholic Girl- all of them I know (including my female cousins) seem to go sex crazy after they get out of school- maybe it’s all the guilt or whatever.
These Muslim girls just seem to have more values.
I don’t expect a woman to wait on me- but I prefer they don’t expect me to hand and foot on them, either like most American girls seems to be like.
Have you found this to be true, or do you have anything to add?
thanks Thomas- nice hat my friend
people are not the same … but mostly, having a muslim wife is the best way to make very ideal and related family.
