Lionheads/ Mini Lops/ Dwarf Lops/Lionlops?
Hi,
I really wanna a rabbit.
I love the dwarfs.
I have done a little research on them.
I’d like her to be a house bunny.
I’m 13!
I do have dogs yet they live outdoors in a warm heated kennel and they love rabbits.
I was wondering if you could awnser these questions on all the rabbits so I could choose which is the best rabbit for me!:
1. Are they good house rabbits?
2. Are they easy to litter train?
3. Are they good with people?
4. Do they like lot’s of human/animal company?
5. Are they easy maintance? [Hair, Nail, Teeth wise]
6. Are they scrathy?

1. Are they good house rabbits?
Yes! They are clean, don’t smell won’t ruin your furniture and they need lots of space to run about. If you mean kept in a hutch then that’s fine too :]. You will want to let the bunny out a few hours a day for exercise.
2. Are they easy to litter train?
Yes! Usually rabbits will only go to the toilet in one place so it’s extremely easy to get them to use a litter box. Put newspaper covered in hay in the litter box, and put the box in a corner. If you plan on keeping her in a hutch, anywhere should be fine.
3. Are they good with people?
Yes! I have never met a more friendly animal. Even more so than most dogs!
4. Do they like lot’s of human/animal company?
Same as above :]. But be careful with your dogs, I don’t suggest leaving them in a room alone together even if they do get along. Anything could happen and you don’t want to take the risk.
5. Are they easy maintance? [Hair, Nail, Teeth wise]
If the bunny has long hair you will want to brush it weekly, if not, you don’t have to do anything. They malt every three months or so, you should brush them to remove the free hair so they don’t eat it.
Nails need to be cut, it’s not difficult but from the day you get your rabbit touch its feet! Otherwise it will be very hard. You need to let them get used to the fact that you touching their feet is OK. I suggest going to the vet for the first trimming, they will show you what to do. You need to be careful to cut before the quick. The quick is a vein in the nail which you can see if the rabbit has clear nails but you can’t on black nails. Either way it’s best to have a vet show you what to do.
Rabbit teeth are always growing. Like fingernails. You need to give your bunny things (toys, treats etc.) to chew on to keep their teeth down. My bunny didn’t chew things so I had to take her to the vet to have her teeth trimmed.
6. Are they scratchy?
Not necessarily. Often my bunny would scratch me to gain my attention, if I was patting her and stopped she’d usually start scratching me to tell me she wants more. If you really don’t like it you can make a high pitched squealing noise which will tell your bunny she/he is hurting you. They also bite for the same reasons. It doesn’t hurt though.
Rabbits are wonderful! Dwarf rabbits are cute and one of the more friendly breeds :].
