Separation Anxiety Causing Pooping Puppy?
8 month Old Miniature schnauzer puppy, crate training, eliminating outside pretty well. NEVER have had a problem with her being in the crate, doesn’t even bark in there. However, several times, even after recently eliminating outside, she has crapped in the house (confined to the kitchen) when I have left the room. definitely occurs when she is upset I have left her alone in the confined kitchen (gated off). Not only can I then not reprimand her when I later discover the poop, but what can I do? I have left her alone while I am still in the house, but I’m in other rooms, and she doesn’t poop/pee accident all the time, but when really upset she does.
It is possible that she is just going because she is confined in a larger area. If you are not home and she needs to go.. she’ll go. When you say she is upset, are you assuming this because there has been an accident? Or is she vocalizing and acting anxious? Are you 100% sure this dog has sep anx? If I were you, I’d video the dog while she is in the kitchen. See if this is anxiety, or if this is just a potty training issue. If the dog is anxious then she needs to start sep anx training.
