Can you use real food to make Miniature Dollhouse food (s)?
I recently bought some craft supplies to make Miniature cakes / desserts (ie: clay, acrylic gel, acrylic paint, wood pie shapes) … and wondered if it was possible to use real food such as cocoa or chopped nuts to make my mini desserts seem real. Of course, I would seal them to prevent errors and such. If not, what I can use to achieve truly realistic looking desserts? Thanks: D
Some "real" can be used on top or even inside the clay ("inclusions") but I want to avoid any within the clay that were not completely dry (no water), especially. Spices and dried herbs, however, can be used easily. Instead food, however, may use various types of dust, scrapes, and even liquid Polymer Clay or pre-cooked bits of clay to simulate solid convincing chopped nuts, powdered sugar or cocoa, sprinkles, chocolate chips, the "golden top," and many other decorations for food or refreshments ingredients that may appear in them. Sugar icing, frosting, whipped cream, sauces, jellies, etc., can also be done with these things. Dollhouse Electrical Systems
Many dollhouse collectors go to great lengths to design and decorate their dollhouse in a specific manner. There is virtually no limit to the various things you can do to make a dollhouse as realistic as possible. Many people choose to decorate their dollhouse with Miniature Furniture as well as dolls and specific decoration. Adding electricity to the dollhouse can be that final finishing touch to make it as genuine and perfect as you can imagine. Having actual lights inside the dollhouse creates a sense of warmth and comfort that can go a long way in livening up the beauty of Your Dollhouse.
Installing electricity into your dollhouse might sound like a difficult task to undertake. However, it really is not all that difficult if you know what you are doing and follow some important steps. For the most part it is pretty standard and straightforward. One of the first things that you need to consider is the amount of voltage that you will need. Take care to never run more electricity into your house than what it can handle. Of course, you need to be certain that the material that the dollhouse is made out of is safe enough to run electricity through.
Always take safety precautions into consideration. You need to consider who will be using the dollhouse. Any electricity wired into the dollhouse must be safe for children to access. This means that if they touched a switch or something, it would be completely safe. When you do wire up your dollhouse, make sure that you never cross the wire or the copper tape. This can result in burning out the entire electrical system. You must also be extremely patient with this task. When working with very small wires, it is easy to get frustrated and lose your patience. Stay calm and cool when working with anything that could become potentially dangerous.
It is always a good idea to plan out your electrical work in advance. Use a diagram or a blueprint to draw out how you will wire through the entire house. Will you do it all as one on one circuit or separate by rooms? It is always recommended to have an actual plan rather than just diving in. If you are not all that skilled in this area, you can work yourself into a corner by diving in without planning ahead properly. Gather all of the tools and equipment that you will need for this job before you get started. You do not want to have to stop and go looking for something halfway through.
If you are building your entire dollhouse yourself, then you may want to do the electrical work before you put up the interior walls. This is just like how it is done in a real house. It keeps all of the wires hidden within the walls, which is why the material you use for your dollhouse should be safe for electrical work. Take your time and never try to use shortcuts when electricity is involved.
