Dollhouse Plastic
Dollhouse from the late 80s (maybe early 90s)?
Okay, I can’t remember much….
I remember it was a wood (well it was plastic, but meant to look like wood) house, with a red roof.
It wasn’t meant for actual dolls. It had little bears that had clothes from like the early 1900s.
I remember the “mommy” bear was grey/white? and she had a blue and white dress.
The “daddy” bear wore overalls.
I also remember the fire place had a switch in the back that when you turned it on a “fire” would flicker in it.
Please, please, please tell me somebody remembers what I’m talking about and can tell me the name. I would love to have another one of these.
Thanks!!
I had that house!
It was the Sylvanian Families. I loved them so much! I actually think I still have it somewhere.
I think they still make them, probably not the old house like you remember. Here’s the link http://www.sylvanianfamilies.com/

Effective Wiring of a Dollhouse
Wiring a Dollhouse in readiness to light it need not be a difficult undertaking. However, one needs to observe a few pointers in order to ensure that the wiring and lighting does not only add beauty to the dollhouse, but is also professional looking. Dollhouse electrification can be done through various ways. They include Tape wiring, which uses a thin copper wire that can be coated either in plastic or just bare, to carry electricity current around the dollhouse. Individual lights are then connected to the wire rings and thus the lights can only function as a single circuit. One of the major shortcomings of tape wiring especially when using the plastic coated wires is the fact that it is hard to establish reliable joints in such wires. In addition, the fact that all lights function in a single circuit makes it hard for one to find easily faults that may occur in the lighting. It is also impossible to use remote control on individual lights.
Another way is using round wire. This is a direct system of wiring where individual fixtures are wired to a lighting strip or a controller. This type of wiring allows plug-in lights to be used and it is easier to trace faults unlike in tape wiring. The tricky part while wound wiring, is the fact that these wires will need to be hidden under flooring boards and moldings. They can also be fixed in floor or wall channels. Under this type of wiring, one can dim or adjust lighting for individual lights and it is possible to use remote control in adjusting lighting. Hybrid system is a mixture of both tape and round wires. Tape-wire circuits are used in the dollhouse and connected to exterior sources of power made of round wire systems. In the hybrid systems, switched or remote lighting controls can be achieved. Such include flickering and dimming.
Before settling for a specific wiring system however, it is important that one consider who will be using the dollhouse, where the dollhouse will be located, the diminishing on the floors and walls and whether the lighting is necessary in the dollhouse. It is also important to consider whether lighting effects are desirable in the dollhouse, whether one has a master plan for the dollhouse and the materials used in the construction of the dollhouse. Such considerations will enable a person to avoid lighting problems in future by incorporating the lighting systems during the construction of the dollhouse. This should be done even when the user has no immediate plans to light up the dollhouse.
To avoid lighting problems in the dollhouse, one should take all necessary care to ensure that the right connections are made during wiring and the connections are well secured. Using a good transformer and a dependable power board are also some of the precautionary measures that one should consider when establishing the wiring system in a dollhouse. It is also advisable to use non-corrosive wires. More so, the wiring should be installed in such a way that finding faults in the system will be easy.
