where can i buy a miniature or small fake cabbage – plastic, ceramic, whatever?
i know that is a weird question, but i’m desperately searching for one as a present for my friend – the cabbage has special meaning for us. any ideas? a dollhouse store, or a fake food store? i’m looking for someplace not online as i’d like to try to buy it in the next few days. thanks!
I’ve seen fake fruits and vegetables at craft stores (Michael’s, Hobby Lobby) and sometimes at stores that sell Home Decor (Pier One is the only one I know of off the top of my head). I don’t know if cabbages are common at such places, though.
Maybe you could make one? Start with a plastic foam ball. Take tissue paper of various shades of green, cut the sheets into cabbage leaf shapes. With a Dark Green felt marker, make the veins in the leaves. Using a mix of white glue and water, soak the inner leaves and apply to the ball, let dry. Repeat with the next layer of leaves, until you end up with a cabbage that will last forever. Be careful to examine the glue label, to be sure it’s safe to use on plastic foam, it will say if it is, but it WON’T say if it isn’t.
