How did this happen?
I have a 15 gallon aquarium. It only has a female dalmatian molly in it and a male Red Wagon platy in it. I know I don’t have many fish, I’ll get more. Please don’t tell me about that.
I have had them for two months. Last night, the dalmatian molly gave birth to fry. I saw only two, so I guess the rest were eaten. This was unexpected and I thought impossible, because they are different breeds. I have a critter keeper for my hamster that I use to put her in when I clean out her cage, so I put the fry in that. All that’s in there are rocks, I didn’t know what else to put.
So can you please tell me why she gave birth? I thought platies and mollies couldn’t mate. Also, what do I do now with the fry? What do I feed them, etc?
mollies and platys can breed with each other and also sward tails too,the babies might be really cute watch them grow and you probably wont need to get more fish since they’re breeding.the babies will eat little pieces of adult food and anything they can find,you can get baby fish food but it can be dangerous as it draws them out into the open.
