What is this called…..?

Yesterday I was at the state fair. And in this art exhibit there was a shadowbox. In it was like a room to a halloween store. There were tiny pumpkin trick or treat baskets. Candy apples. All miniature things.
Is there a name for this craft? And where can i find supplies for it? Is it hard to do?

They are usually called miniature dioramas or shadowbox dioramas. “Diorama – a three-dimensional model, usually enclosed in glass.” It can be a simple open model like the setting for model trains or an elaborate scene like your Halloween store. You can do action scenes with figurines too. I do cute “tree houses” for Christmas with gnome families in them.

They are great fun to make but can get very involved. A friend and I are working on a 50′s malt shop right now but it will probably take us another year to finish it. Once you get started you begin to look at everything around you in an entirely new light LOL. A bead suddenly becomes the foot for a table or a cherry on a soda. Many of the items created for these are made of polyclay and crafted one piece at a time. I personally find it fun to pick a basic subject or theme and then embellish as I go along and more ideas occur.
