Use the paint like a stain?
I want to stain my deck balck porcelain at the bottom and honey oak top. I can not find a spot that is black enough and yet allows the wood grain show through. I wonder about the use of oil paint as black as a stain. Painting and contagious. Has anyone tried this? What were the results?
Yes, you can use black paint thinner down. You could look for milk paint is water based and can be diluted with water so the intensity you like. Fine grain sample, and if you look makes it so antiquey well. It can be sanded a bit after that if you want to take a discount. Practice on some scrap wood, because it is easy to use, but not like a common painting. It is not very washable, however, is a very flat finish, so you might want to varathane later if you like washable.
