I just came across a recipe for Charlotte Aux Pommes….?
but my grandma made an Apple Charlotte when I was younger and she passed on about 10years ago. I have looked for her recipe but cannot find it. The recipe I just found for the Charlotte Aux Pommes used a custard, is that standard for any kind of Charlotte. Do you guys have any good recipes for an Apple Charlotte? Thanks so much
Apple Charlotte
Cooking apples (1.5kg)
buttered bread approx 3/4 loaf- 1 loaf
4 tbsp sugar
4 egg yolks
2 tbsp melted butter
pinch nutmeg
lemon juice
Grease large dish
lay buttered slices around edges inside
Boil apples with 2 tbsp sugar and lemon juice
Until pulped
Strain and cool
Whisk egg yolks
add apple sauce
2 tbsp melted butter
nutmeg
mix all together
pour into bread lined bowl
cover with remaining bread
sprinkle with sugar
bake approx 50 mins
