What is the difference between using a cake pan (ceramic) and a baking tray (metal)?
I am slowly, slowly starting to add things in my kitchen. Lately I've been doing the things they say in the recipe to use a baking dish, however I have been using only a baking tray in place metal, it still seems to be okay. The last thing I did was a lasagna, cooking went well in the metal tray. Tonight I bake the dough in the oven in the metal tray as usual, and I hope to succeed. But I remember my mom always used to ceramics, what are the benefits this? Should I invest in one, is there any reason why you should not use the metal for meals this way? I thought the difference could be that the food will burn more easily in a metal tray, but my meals have not been through anything, so I'm not sure now.
A baking pan is a dish you would use to bake a cake, pasta or a casserole in. They are usually 9×13 inches. They can also be made of glass (Pyrex) of ceramic or metal. The ceramics conduct heat better, requiring less than glass cooking time, and the metal (if dark metal) take longer. I have one of each. In a glass I use most often because I can see what is happening there! I have a ceramic one that I like to use baking pasta or chicken or beef, and a metal one I use least. And I know: a baking tray is also called a cookie sheet or it could be a jelly roll pan or pizza pan. I use my baking to produce cookies, oven fries, pizza. Some baking trays have no parts for them.
