Children and Horses
Wherever you look there are horse crazy girls attend boarding stables and riding schools, eager to take every opportunity I can to be near the horses. While it is wonderful to see the anxious faces around the farm, it is important to consider safety.
Children believe they are invincible and indestructible. No matter how old or how young, it is impossible for a young to understand the incredible amount of danger there is around a farm.
If you take a good look around the average horse farm, will be surprised how many dangers there are those who are unaware.
One of the most attractive for young people is heavy equipment. Large tractors small SUVs, the team around the farm is like honey to a bee. The children climb onto, below and through the computer without that you can get hurt. If you have a farm that may have children around, make sure that all equipment is stored and no keys and dangerous parts included or save. A vehicle with the keys attached is too tempting for a bit, and unless the child is old enough to know how to handle, do not use the computer.
Of course, children tend to be there for the horses. Unfortunately, not all horses are as tolerant as we would like to view. While some will be presented to the sleepers for hours with the children to brush, others as soon bite or hit the hand that feeds them.
It should be clear to children that horses are allowed to drive. young children should be encouraged to wear a helmet whenever handling horses. Children more may be well on their own without a helmet, but must still be supervised whenever handling animals.
When you go, there must be a person on the ground, available to help in an emergency. No one should be riding if there is not one person in the property available that is capable of driving should be a visit to hospital necessary. Pilots should be allowed only to horses know, unless supervised by an adult at first.
Any horses that are potentially dangerous to children should be clearly indicated. You should put signs in their posts, and try to avoid turning out horses that children tend to have to bring the fields.
While you do not want to discourage children can enjoy horses and fun around the farm, the establishment of some standards and safety measures is essential. An ounce of prevention can go a long way.
Remember, even in the best barns accidents can happen. Prepare a plan for emergency management, and ensure that every child knows exactly what to do if something goes wrong.
